My name is Randy Withers.

I am a Board-Certified Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Clinical Addictions Specialist in North Carolina. I specialize in the treatment of co-occurring disorders. Most days, you’ll find me working at a psychiatric hospital where I oversee substance abuse counseling services.

I also see clients at a private practice, where I tend to focus on relationship issues, depression, anxiety, and stress. I mostly work with adults, including members of the LGBTQ+ community.

I’m also a former teacher, college counselor, and Academic Dean. For the past two years, I’ve served as the Managing Editor for Blunt Therapy.

I’ve spent the past 20 years helping people achieve goals. Along the way, I’ve developed a unique perspective on the nature of change that informs everything I do as a therapist, educator, and writer. In late 2018, I started Blunt Therapy with the goal of making it the best blog about mental health on the internet.

What Coaching is Not:

  • A therapy session;

  • A resource if you are in physical, social, or psychological crisis;
  • An opportunity to report or escape abuse;
  • Appropriate if you are suicidal.
