Kim Rosenthal, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist with more than 20 years of experience helping people with substance use disorders and mental illness. She spent most of her career as a travelling doctor, affording her the chance to work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, rehabs, detox units, and forensic facilities. These days she practices medicine in a state hospital in North Carolina.
Rosenthal founded the Outside-the-Box Recovery movement to promote a zest for sober living through illustrated, fun, and clinically-relevant treatment material.
Her latest book is the Outside-the-Box Recovery Workbook , a 30-day journey into the world of sobriety, where relapse prevention and CBT meet cartoons, art therapy, creative writing, puzzles, and the occasional joke. The workbook is available on Amazon.
